There are flat platforms that lay between, and perpendicular to
the handle portion and the mounting prongs, forming a base and
stop for the prongs. The flat platforms butt up against the
outside of the door when the handle is in place. The mounting
prongs extend out off the platforms and each has a hole for
mounting to the side of the lockbar. On the left hand lift,
the mounting prong is closer to the right edge of the platform
as they are pointed away from you. This is how you can
visually identify the handing, just by looking at the lift.
